Neil Pollock, M.D.
Neil Pollock, M.D. is the founder of Pollock Clinics and has over 25 years of clinical and research experience in circumcision.
Dr. Pollock is recognized as a pioneer in developing a virtually bloodless and painless, under 30-second procedure for infant circumcision. He has safely performed over 35,000 circumcisions since 1990.
Dr. Pollock’s research into ways of making infant circumcision as painless and comfortable as possible have been published nationally and internationally and he has frequently been called upon to present his research at hospitals and medical conferences.
Helping Doctors Become Mohelim
Dr. Pollock has been certified by the Conservative and Reform Rabbinate of British Columbia to serve the community as a mohel.
He has also completed the Brit Kodesh course which is the official Halachik training program for doctors becoming mohelim, offered by the Rabbinical Assembly at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York City.
He reserves space in his training schedule for doctors preparing to become mohelim. This part of his practice is a pleasure – and prospective mohelim benefit from hands-on training with a global expert.
Circumcision Training Centre of Excellence
In addition to mohel training, Dr. Pollock is a Clinical Instructor with the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine. He also enjoys teaching medical students and other visiting physicians, who travel from around the world to Vancouver to work specifically with him to learn his highly respected surgical techniques.
Dr. Pollock is also a principal in the Gentle Procedures Clinic network of circumcision clinics, and as part of the Gentle Procedures group, he has trained doctors and helped set up circumcision clinics in Australia, the UK, and the US – as well as across Canada.
“I took Dr. Pollock’s training course 18 months ago.
The surgical training was excellent. The benefit of being able to see and participate in 20 or more circumcisions in a day was invaluable and difficult to get anywhere.
Neil uses the Mogen Clamp which allows for a 40 second surgery and is ideal for using in a bris.”

Pollock Technique™ Circumcision Around The World.
Over the years Dr. Pollock has also been asked by leading world authorities in disease prevention to teach his techniques and coordinate charitable humanitarian missions to countries in greatest need.
For example, in 2014 Dr. Pollock was asked by Dr. Klausner of UCLA Medical Center to teach the Pollock Technique™ for circumcision to surgeons in Haiti where it would be highly useful to reduce HIV transmission. This drew the attention of some of Hollywood’s biggest stars who came to visit Pollock while in Port-au-Prince.
He also coordinated an earlier mission to help the people of Rwanda in 2008 where he taught leading surgeons his surgical techniques which have since been in use saving thousands of lives.
Numerous articles have been written about Dr. Pollock in local and national publications and he is an invited guest lecturer and surgical instructor at many hospitals and conferences in Vancouver and throughout the world, including Haiti, Turkey, China, Rwanda, and the US.
Developing Expertise in Circumcision
Dr. Pollock limits his practice to only a few surgical procedures which he has practiced and perfected over many years. The first is circumcision and the second is no-scalpel, no-needle vasectomy.
About 25 years ago, before beginning to perform these procedures, Dr. Pollock traveled to many cities in North America researching first-hand what he believed to be all the best techniques used by the most experienced doctors.
After carefully studying their most effective strategies, Dr. Pollock put together his own approach to these surgeries, combining the most effective elements of what he learned. He then further refined the entire process creating what has become known today as “The Pollock Technique™ ” for circumcision.
